THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE FROM ALL FIVE CONTINENTS PARTICIPATE IN THE 2ND GATHERING FOR HUMANITY AND AGAINST NEOLIBERALISM IN THE SPANISH STATE.

On the July 25th the 2ND GATHERING FOR HUMANITY AND AGAINST NEOLIBERALISM will commence in five centres in the Spanish State, and last until August 3rd.

It will continue the process begun by the 1st Gathering, called last year by the Zapatistas in the Lacandon Jungle, Chiapas State (Mexico), which brought together thousands of people from the five continents of the world. This year it will be held in Europe with the aim of allowing people to meet, to reflect on their situations, and to build a network of resistances and struggles against neoliberalism and for Humanity.

At several meetings which were held during the year in different points of Europe, the European Organising Assembly determined that the Gathering should take place in the Spanish State. Madrid, Catalunya, Ruesta (Aragon), Almuñecar and El Indiano (Andalusia) are the centres which will see the distribution of the discussion tables and the activities running parallel to them.

Between them they will receive more than three thousand people coming from struggles all over the world. The attendance has been confirmed of people and movements from the whole of Europe, as well as the United States, the Quaquero people, Canada, Chile, Mexico - the Zapatistas have assured us they will be present whatever the situation in Chiapas - Argentina, Nicaragua, Brazil, Guatemala, Chile, Venezuela, Palestine, Algeria, The Philippines, Pakhistan, Western Sahara, Kurdistan, etc, etc..

The inaugural ceremony will be held in Madrid on the night of July 26th, in the Bull Ring in San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid), where the Manifesto of the Gathering will be read together with greetings from people from the five continents. On the 27th a demonstration for Humanity and against Neoliberalism will take place in the centre of Madrid, after which the participants will travel by special train to the different centres of the Peninsula.
Here, from the 29th to the 31st of July, work will be done on the various subject areas into which the content of the Gathering has been divided:

· Neo-liberal economics against Humanity (work, dignity, alternative economies, ways of life beyond the marketplace).

· Globalisation and new inequalities (nationalisms, migrations...)

· The struggles for culture, education, and information (or how to turn lies into truth).

· The struggle against patriarchy.

· The struggles for land and ecology.

· Against all forms of marginalisation.

The subject which will be present at all of the tables will be THE CREATION OF A NETWORK OF STRUGGLES, as agreed in Chiapas last year. Parallel events will be organised in all the five centres (exhibitions, conferences, concerts, etc.)

The closing ceremony will be held in El Indiano (Cádiz, Andalusia), an Andalusian rural estate expropriated by the Spanish government which has been occupied for several years by Sindicato de Obreros del Campo (an agricultural workers' trade union).
